Congrats! You’ve moved into your first place.. or maybe you’re just finally on your own.
Here are some pantry/ fridge staples I always find my friends are missing and wonder how they live their lives to be honest.
This list of pantry staples are the items that I like to keep on hand to help me make meals or follow recipes without constantly running to the store. They’re pretty basic ingredients however you do NOT need all of them. These are just the typical items i constantly need day to day when I have to cook or when I’m at a friends house and wonder why they do not have it. They’re basic ingredients that are used frequently and typically inexpensive as well. Of course with dietary restrictions you may not ever need any of the below or maybe you substitute some items for another item. These basics are nice to have even if you don’t cook often at home.
Water Filter
Eggs - if you eat meat
Sugar or sweetener of some sort- Mainly if you love to bake- otherwise you can probably just be fine living your life without sugar.
Flour ( you can have almond flour..)
Butter or a fat of some kind. This can be olive oil or avocado oil as well.
Dry Pasta/Rice
Dry Beans/lentils
Meat or Vegetable Stock
Potatoes
Onions
Vinegar
Rolled Oats
Spices you enjoy: salt, pepper, onion, ginger, garlic, oregano, thyme, basil, cinnamon, Vanilla Extract
Tomato Sauce- I know we all want to make fresh pasta sauce but it’s good to have one as a back up in your pantry as a young professional. They DO sell sugarless tomato sauce with pretty clean ingredients at most grocery stores now.
Condiments you enjoy daily like BBQ sauce, mustard, Honey, ketchup.
What are some of your Pantry staples you can’t live without?!
